PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
A Think Tank initiative was conducted including a select pool of clinicians involved in vaccinations, including infectious disease specialists, primary care physicians, adolescent medicine, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nursing, obstetrics/gynecology, and university student health practitioners. The Think Tank took an immersed look into issues that clinicians face as they address HPV vaccination for their patients. This Clinical Dialogue and eCase Challenge program, focusing on barriers to HPV vaccination and strategies to overcome them, is the outcome of this in-depth, intensive, and cooperative engagement.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:Discuss the prevalence of HPV infection, the types of cancers it causes and the impact of HPV vaccination in the U.S.State the ACIP recommendations for HPV vaccination in children aged 9-14 and persons aged 15-26Identify perceived barriers by both healthcare providers and patients to HPV vaccinationApply strategies to overcome perceived barriers to HPV vaccination in the pediatric, adolescent and/or adult clinic setting
