Program Description
More Americans die from lung cancer than any other type of cancer. An estimated 154,050 individuals die annually from this disease. Screening and identifying patients at risk early in the course of their disease promotes timely interventions and increases the rate of positive treatment outcomes. This program will outline the lung cancer screening recommendations and additional patient characteristics that will assist practitioners in identifying patients who will benefit from screening. The program also discusses diagnostic approaches for lung cancer including recent revisions to lung cancer staging recommendations and the management of pulmonary complications of lung cancer. CDC guidance on the management of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic is also discussed.
Intended Audience
This activity is intended for pulmonary providers who participate in the care of patients with lung cancer including general pulmonologists, interventional pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, physicians-in-training, nurses including nurse navigators, and physician extenders.
