PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In fast-paced acute care settings, selection of appropriate pharmacologic agents must be performed swiftly in order to facilitate optimal patient outcomes. This course will present four cases in pediatric acute/critical care including traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus and septic shock. Participants will be encouraged to select management strategies for case progression using the audience-based response system. Evidence-based pharmacologic and clinical management strategies will be discussed.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
As a result of participating in the activity, learners should be better able to: Identify commonly used pharmacologic agents for children that have suffered traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus and septic shockDiscuss evidence-based pharmacologic strategies for children with traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus and septic shockReview appropriate monitoring measures for the pharmacologic strategies discussed
