PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a multifactorial, multisystem disease, and interactions among biologic, genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors affect the course of the disease. Research suggests that the multidisciplinary care of people with AD may improve disease severity, quality of life, and adherence, especially for patients with refractory disease. This program reviews the importance of approaching this multisystem disease with multidisciplinary care that incorporates novel therapies, lifestyle measures, patient education, and patient-clinician shared decision-making.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After completing this activity, clinicians should be better able to:Explain how a multidisciplinary approach to care may improve patient outcomes in ADElucidate the pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, and diagnostic criteria of ADOutline treatment plans for adults with moderate to severe AD based on safety and efficacy, comorbidities, and patient quality of life.Discuss how to engage patients in shared-decision making regarding their AD treatment options to improve adherence
