This course offers practicing physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals a comprehensive course in the art and science of wound debridement. Students will be introduced to traditional methods as well as cutting edge sharp debridement technologies.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
This course will provide introductory background knowledge and skills in the practice of Debridement.At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:Identify the Phases of wound healing and how to utilize appropriate debridement modalitiesDescribe the anatomy and physiology of tissue layers and landmark structures in debridementDiscuss the proper debridement preparationList the reasons to stop sharp debridementExplain the methods to stop bleedingDiscuss the indications and contraindications for sharp debridementIdentify the instruments and techniques used in sharp debridement and nursing implications
