PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Unintended pregnancy is a major public health problem in the United States. Unintended pregnancy usually is the result of failure to use contraception or inconsistent or incorrect use of effective contraceptive methods. Long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) are the most effective and consistently used contraceptives. This two-part series addresses guidelines that encourage the use of LARCs because of the high efficacy, safety, and ease of use.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this application-based educational activity, participants should be able to:Review key points on counseling patients on contraceptive options, including LARCsApply recommendations to determine the best LARC option for a patientDiscuss variations in access and availability of LARCs in different healthcare systems
